Halfway between the towns of Zagreb and Zadar in Croatia is the oldest national parks in Southern Europe, Plitvice Lakes
Plitvice lakes are sixteen, connected by 92 cascades and tormented rivers …. The park’s primary beech and pine forest is home to brown bears, wolves and other rare animal and plant species. The flora and fauna are prosperous, as evidenced by the rich fish culture of the lakes.
To visit these magical places, a wooden path leads round the park, but it is also possible to cross the biggest lakes by boat. Apart from the path and the few facilities for the visitors, nature is left in the wild, no human intervention is allowed.
